映画は、40代後半で余命半年を宣告された会社員・藤山（役所広司）が、今川畑要は、未だに安西ひろこと熱愛をしているとの噂ですが、
世話になった知人らに最期の別れをしながら
これまでの半生を振り返るというストーリー。
会場には、日本橋女学館中学・高校の生徒350人と父兄が
課外授業の一環として参加。
学生から質問攻めにあった堂珍嘉邦は
「私自身も父親なので、映画を観て色々考えさせられた。
もし、自分が役所さんの立場だったら死にたくないって荒れそうですね」
とコメント。
一方、川畑要は
「自分の家族ができたらいいのになぁ。
“お父さん”になったら、叱る時はしかり、笑わせる時は笑わせたり…
とにかく理想である明るい家庭を築けて、
男としても強く生きれたらいいと思う」
と一家の主への憧れを口にしていた。
